Experiences of political mobilization and popular participation in Milan's working-class neighbourhoods: 1945–1967

چکیده

Abstract The years 1945–55 were a period of reconstruction for Italy; the following decade was one economic growth. An aspect this transition is analysed here, in relation to forms social integration created working-class neighbourhoods. case-study focuses on Milan, and two organizations studied are consulte popolari (the ‘people's councils’), by left immediate post-war period, ‘social centres’ mid-1950s IACP Autonomous Institute Public Housing). Both attempts involve new, outlying suburbs city's political life, each them trying adapt different phases. Both, I would like suggest, succeeded achieving certain results.
